Envisioning Justice RE:ACTION
Client
Illinois Humanities
Year
2021, 2022
I joined Illinois Humanities in 2021 to manage communications for the Envisioning Justice program and direct the development of a unique new digital project: Envisioning Justice RE:ACTION. Over 14 months, I worked with the Envisioning Justice team, a group of artists, educators, and organizers, and Clique Studios to develop and launch a new website to host a virtual exhibition and “activation kit.”
The interactive site features 14 prompts that invite users to interrogate our relationship to the carceral state through a variety of arts- and humanities-based activities. After completing a prompt, users can submit their personal responses through the website to be published in a collection of community-generated responses to mass incarceration. The platform is now used by Illinois Humanities and its partners during public programs and events as a unique way to engage with challenging subject matter that users can take with them and share with their community to multiply its impact.
My role
Branding, communications strategy, copywriting, creative direction, and project management; Produced the launch campaign.
The outcome
Over 6k users reached through public programs and an organic advertising campaign.
The Envisioning Justice program and its partners continue using the platform in their public programming and developing new engagements to activate the site.
